Eurostar - how long before departure do I arrive?
Ok chaps I’m getting the Eurostar tomorrow for the first time. It’s saying I need to arrive 90 minutes before departure but that’s cutting it fine. I normally get to the airport just before the gate closes and have never had any problems doing that, can the same be down for Eurostar?

I'd try to get there about 40 minutes before, but 30 minutes and you'd still be fine.

Re: Eurostar - how long before departure do I arrive?
At least 90 minutes. Depends on your departure time.

Went to Lille a few weeks ago and the queue was massive. Was glad I arrived early.

As someone said earlier, check the website

There's a little more risk in actually getting to the terminal if you're travelling in by tube - and the check-in counters are roughly 10 minutes walk (dodging all the poncy shoppers in your path) from the Underground/Thameslink platforms.

I always get there an hour early so you can go in get a coffee and use the khaki as the ones on the train are vile
Pay for a flexi ticket on the way back always massive queues and you jump them all with a flexi. On the way back from Lyon it was a 3 hour queue and we got through in about 20mins

Why would you seek the answer for this kind of question on WHO? Maybe look at the Eurostar website.

Anyway, I used to go to Belgium a lot *gags*

Usually turned up around an hour before.

Re: Eurostar - how long before departure do I arrive?
An hour is pretty smart. I went to Amsterdam Monday morning and it was an absolute clusterfuck. The queue was out the door and 300 yards down the road alongside the platforms the stratford train goes from. However the staff do bend over backwards to get you on the train if you're there in time. They called us all into a separate queue so we didn't miss it. Train ended up going 30 mins late while they got everyone on, though...

I too thought this was a time travel thread. Would be quite handy what with many posters living in the 1950's.

Re: Eurostar - how long before departure do I arrive?
Taking a trip this week in fact on Eurostar. Things have changed a lot. My first Paris assignment back in 1999 my client was paying like £400 business class and it took almost 4 hrs.

I like to get there early as I have a Thalys Club + card so I can access the lounge for some nice free wine and nibbles. KingsX lounge is not that great better than Brussels though but Gare du Nord....fuck me. They have a sunken round cocktail bar. It like a nightclub and all is "Phreeee" !!!

The newly furbished trains are ream,

Got there 75 mins before departure and reg queue was all the way outside. They ended up delaying departure by 20 mins to ensure everyone got on board. I had a turtle head throughout
